There are many affiliate networks available for one to choose offers and joining them is generally a very simple process. Most affiliate marketers tend to focus their efforts promoting products from Clickbank or Plimus, as these are the two most well-known affiliate networks in the Internet Marketing space. Clickbank and Plimus concentrate on Internet Marketing books and software. But they offer products relating to other categories (also known as niches)also, as weight loss, self-help, dating and relationships etc.
Do not just confine yourself to Clickbank and Plimus as your affiliate networks. There are literally dozens of other affiliate networks out there where you can make big money promoting not just eBooks and programs, but mainstream consumer products. Look at places like Commission Junction and Amazon as possible affiliate networks.
You can easily add an Amazon store to your website and get paid, when people buy books, music, electronics, or anything else Amazon sells! So for example, if you want to promote diet programs, you can build a website to promote weight loss systems sold on Clickbank and then make even more money by selling weight loss products (supplements, vitamins, books, DVDs, exercise equipment) that are offered through your Amazon store. Amazon handles all of the billing and shipping - you just sit back and get a nice check at the end of each month!
Payouts on affiliate products and offers vary wildly. Most eBooks can pay as much as 70% of the purchase price, meaning that if someone buys a $49 system, you’ll get paid about $34. If the product has recurring monthly billing you will also get paid on that but probably at a lower rate. If you are being paid for a lead, that will be a much lower payment, probably $5 or so, but your conversions may be much higher for leads than for products. You need to test and experiment and see what works for you based on the product niche you want to promote.
All affiliate programs have very comprehensive administrative systems that let you track your sales and leads and how much you have earned in commissions . It is important to understand, however, that all your sales will not turn into commissions because of refunds for products and programs. Clickbank, for example, has a 60-day guarantee on all its products and programs and if someone requests a refund, that amount will be deducted from any commissions you have earned. Same is the case with Amazon: if someone returns a book or a computer, that return will be deducted from what is owed you. So do not assume that you are going to get paid on 100% of your sales. Many Clickbank programs have very high return rates.
