My point of view S.E.O future is very bright because, when we selecting an appropriate tool for business. Avoid using products that promise making all the work for you (like promoting your site, moving it into top 10 and so on). This is a kind of work only a human can do. There is no magic in the real world and there is no a software tool that can bring your site thousands of visitors with a single mouse click.
But I see that social media is also going to play a crucial role as more and more people move towards social media, advertiser will also pay more attention to these new kids on the block where as SEO is going to be always present with less or more importance.
