This article: Best Way to Have Quality Comments Only has some ideas for getting only quality comments on your blog.
As somone who reads a lot of blogs, I really don't like the following suggestions from the article:
CAPTCHAs
There's a whole thread over in Web Usability about the usefulness/uselessness of CAPTCHas
Having to be a member of a third party sign to make a comment.
Never trust any site that wants me to login via theirs using my Facebook or Twitter id. Some blogs have missed out on a comment by me by using Disqus to accept comments.
Having to be a member of the site to leave a comment.
These are mainly blogging community sites. I already have 62+ memberships thank you. I'll move on. There's lots of other blogs to leave comments.
Comments being closed
It's disappointing to read a great post right to the end and then find out you can no longer contribute to the conversation. We aren't all spammers ya know.
So read the article and come back with your comments on the ideas suggested.
Comments are now an old fashioned back linking technique. We should try to use such technique which are according to the latest trends, because trends are changing continuously and it is better to follow these to survive.
