I am interested in using social media marketing as part of the strategies to promote my site. I also need some insights from those who have been doing it. My question is what you think about it? Does it really work?
Yes but you have to use it right! I have gained more traffic from social media then traditional SEO more often then not. It is important that you use a number of different social media sites so that you are getting noticed. It is also important to share useful information, not just selling. Show the benefits of your product in order to entice individual to WANT to buy your product. If you build a downline this can also be a useful guide for those new to your business/product. Be sure to test different times to post to see what works best for your followers. Do not post the same thing over and over. If you want to share the same information, be sure to space it out 2-3 weeks apart. Be consistent! Do not post 4 times a week and then drop off for 1-2 weeks at a time. This will make people wonder and you will loose their attention. One very important key area to play close attention to is engaging through discussions. Look for areas where you can lend the benefits of your product to help the topic at hand. LinkedIn is a great area to look for areas to discuss. Forums like these are great as well. Use tools like topsy to search key terms on twitter to tweet to individuals interested in the type of product you offer.
