Hello!
This is really for anyone newish to this exciting business like me.
Using Quotation marks when conducting Keyword Research - Is something that confuses a lot of people Online, and I include myself with this as I only just begun with this business recently:D
In Fact this was a question I use to ask lots of people about and no one could give me a straight answer.
The Question I use to ask was along the lines of
"Why Should I use Quotation Marks ("")when conducting Keyword Research - because nobody I know use ("") when searching online???
So I set out to find the answer so I could help others...
The Answer
The inverted commas are really there for YOU - To Help with your research.
That is The ONLY Reason.
The quotes allow you to ascertain your competition.
This is the SECRET that know one explains.
When you conduct a search on Google WITHOUT the quotation marks, You will get results that contain your KEYWORD in ANY COMBINATION.
BUT...
...When you conduct a search WITH the quotation marks, You will get results that ONLY include paged that contain your EXACT keyword Phrase.
Do you see the difference?
A lot of people don't at first. (and I will include myself in that list)
Here is an example "lose weight for summer holiday"
Let's imagine that the search results without "" is 766,988
And WITH the Quotation Marks it is just 10,000
You may want to consider using this key phrase because using this exact Term you are only competing with 10,000 sites NOT 766,988
Does That Make Sense?
I know at first it takes a few moments to understand the difference. It took me a good couple of months.
Just to reiterate when people type in a search without the "" marks these results are going to show them any combination of there words at any site.
plus without the "" the keyword won't be the exact keyword. It could be broken up.
But by using the ''' marks in your research for a great keyword - You will only bring up sites and articles that are specifically your opposition to that keyword.
This will give you an idea of the TRUE competition you are up against
And When you use quotes, this will bring up your most prominent competition.
In other word people who know a bit about what they are doing to rank for those keywords.
It is true most people will never use "" marks when conducting their own research but this tool will give you an edge on your competition.
I really hope this helped a few here as this was something that confused me TONS when I first started - and know one really would help me with this.
Here is to all of our success online.
All The Best
