I'm not really a person to start a thread in a forum, but to be honest I was quite upset with some of the standard of information some people have given out in this forum.
Especially to do with affiliate marketing.
So I thought I should right this wrong and post about how to actually really make money as an affiliate marketer
Ok before we start I would like to say sorry for any grammar mistakes lol
Ok first off, if you think making money online is easy and it will happen over night then please do me a favor and think of doing something else
There are many ways to get paid as an affiliate, per sale, per lead, per call and per download.
You should first decide what niche to enter, me personally I like to stick with the bigger niches, make money, dating, adult and fitness etc
But you can do very well in other niches, for example one of my business partners does only sports downloads and is doing very well
After you pick your niche look into what offers you can promote, check out click bank, amazon or places like offer vault
offer vault allows you find what affiliate network has a specific offer that you want to promote. you would have to apply for the cpa network which has the offer.
Some networks are a bit strict about who they are letting into there network, so I would advise to build a professional looking website, saying that you are an ad agency.
That should help to you get approved
Ok if you don't want to apply to a network you can go to click bank or many other networks which allows you to promote right away.
Now you have found the offer to promote now its time to drive traffic.
there are many traffic sources, such as seo, forum marketing, article writing. But this is slow traffic, seo you have to wait to get ranked, that's if you rank at all.
Forum marketing is ok if you want to bring 10 people a day to your site and if you don't mind writing and networking on forums all day. It can work I do it time to time but not for my affiliate campaigns
I would highly recommend you get into paid traffic, doesn't matter what one, facebook, bing ads, google, POF, sitescout, direct site media buying, cpv. The list is endless
Find a traffic source which works for you and your offer, master it and move to other traffic sources to scale.
Things you should do in your campaign[u]
Test more than one offer (rotate offers)
Split test from direct linking to sending traffic to a landing page
Split test your ad copy and image
track your data ( this is a must)
be willing to lose money at first (buying data)
Don't believe the money is in the list hype, yes it is good to build a list and I would highly recommend it, but you can do very well by just driving traffic to an offer and not capturing the leads
Building a list you would need to learn more skills, you will need to get your visitor to opt in, then you need to have a good follow up email funnel, plus you need to learn about email copy and even open rates.
I have just only started to build a list and I have been online for 3 years now
Your overall goal should be to have a list of prospects you can market too. You can start with this but don't think that you have too right away.
There are so many more things I could add here but then I would be writing forever.
here are two post's I have written that would help you out more, the first one is an hour long video on affiliate marketing, over the shoulder of how to set up a campaign
Affiliate marketing for dummies
How to market with angles
