What is the difference between Commodities and Futures?
Is is a better idea to invest in Commodities and Futures? than stocks?
Commodities are products or materials like copper, sugar, gold, cattle, cotton, etc., even money is nothing but a commodity.
Futures are contracts, and the underlying material is one of the commodities. Futures have a given or fixed quantity of commodity, to be delivered at a future date, hence the short form FUTURES, as specified in the contract
Futures can be had or traded in financials as well, where the underlying 'instrument' are bonds or the respective interest rate on those bonds.
Check it out at the CBOT (Chicago Board of Trade) or the CME (Chicago Mercantile Exchange)
Hope it helps
Trading in Commodities is not what I do since I stay away from anything that has an open and close every day. I stick with FOREX to be able to stay in the market 24 hours.
