What causes abdominal pain after exercise?
I am in good health and would say i am reasonably fit. However over the last 4-6 weeks i have been getting lower abdominal pain after strenious exercise. If i go to the gym i am fine but when i play 1 hour of indoor soccer (at a very high tempo!) i get the pain about 1 hour after playing. I have been playing indoor soccer once a week for the last number of years and have never had a problem until recently. The pain will last all evening and sometimes i can even feel a little discomfort the next morning but by lunch time i am fine and will be until after soccer the following week.
The pain is reasonable central and in the lower abdominal area and is not a sharp pain but more of a discomfort. It feels like i have diarrhoea but i dont and when i pass wind i get a small relief.
I am a 28 year old male. I eat my evening meal after the soccer but am unable to do anything for the remainder of the evening and find it easier to lie in bed.
Does anyone have any suggestions other than quit the soccer?
