Saw 4

I've had to honestly say, I didn't like this movie as much as I'd thought (or hoped) I would.
I had such high expectations for the plot, the action, the visuals, the cinematography and of course the traps.
However, what I found lacked alot of the lacklustre that made the other movies so enjoyable.
Alot of the prosthetics certainly did disappoint me. For a homocidal, gory, horror related film to work, you don't want to see evidence of its falsehood. So many dead bodies I'd confront in the movie did not look real at all.
Kerry's body certainly didn't look real at all. I must say though, yes, Saw's autopsy scene with this whole prosthetic figure does however look quite genuine.
However, as I continue the movie, the police photographer who gets a spike through the head. Now that was a terrible faked body.
Not only did this disappointment me, but alot of the concepts and traps of Saw's weren't using the same "Religious and Spiritual" defense and reason as he began with.
He seemed to be losing insanity as he went on, and as he continued testing the "fabric of humanity."
* Saw 4 intensified the evidence that Saw actually began his work due to revenge, hatred and obsession, rather than just trying to allow people to reclaim their lives and gain back a piece of themself, the ability to save themselves.
* Rigg had never done, and has never lived a lifestyle that's typically of one that Saw would pick. His test was pointless. Rigg liked to save a life? And so he had to suffer so many deaths around him?? And yes, I understand the basis of the movie; 'learning how to truly save a life,' but the essential concept isn't like Saw's traditional means.
* Agent Perez and Agent Strahm for example. I do not see how testing them at all is fair.
* Rigg found himself constantly confronted by the decision to either save or not save so so many people. Such a decision should only be based on the people themselves, not the confrontation of another people in the means of saving themself. Brenda would've had no way to save herself, how could she learn a lesson? Ivan was forced into a test that certainly didn't evidently give enough time for a decision to truly be made.
I could quite definitely continue, but that is enough now.
I mean... the movie wasn't all bad. I enjoyed seeing the backplot for alot of the movie; such as the Billy puppet, the construction of Saw's voice, and the inspriation for the wire trap in Saw 1.
That is all for now
But certainly continuity wasn't as well presented as the other Saw movies.
But I must say, I STILL PREFER SAW 1. So much thought and detail is constructed. So many mental twists and turns for you; the audience. And enough interest in the entire movie to not require as much gore or blood.
WELL DONE JAMES WAN. And on such a cheap spending allowance on the movie.
WELL DONE.

Cold Mountain

This is such an epic movie. Every element, every side story, every part of the journey connects with me in such a way to make me really appreciate what a spectacular film it is.
I find it also reminding me of how disgusting and terrible the overall morality and ethics of men are/can be. Now, I'm not going to say something hostile and stupid, like all men are terrible people, but throughout all of history, it is proven that the male mentality leads to constant destruction, death and hatred.
They never learn.... they as in those men who find themselves in power and find themselves in a position for a decision to be made towards war or against it. Every war is only out of either nationalistic conceit or revenge. These singular or groups of men have a misunderstanding or strive to better themselves (their country) and in doing so, send hundreds of thousands, or even millions against their own human race to decide their own conflict.
The American Civil War is something I'll never understand. Pinning a country against itself; separating it, dividing it down the middle and pinning it against each other. How could you hate someone of the same country? But then... How could you hate someone of the same world? The same human race?
Sure, we have different beliefs, different cultures, different traditions, different ideas; but whose to say ours is better. Whose to say ours is right. Whose to say we have the right to force such an ideal upon anyone else, if they feel the right to keep their own.
This mentality is only continuing in our modern day. The War on Terrorism? I don't even understand it. It apparently began after 9.11, but has only just continued. Who are we trying to find? Who are we trying to kill? Bin Laden? His family?
The Bush family flew the Bin Laden family out of America the day before 9.11. And as I watch American news television, I find myself confronted by the very nature of the hatred and idiocy of men. Why should a country or even a family of one person be punished for one man's decision?
War is only constant revenge. Retaliation. An eye for an eye. And this will only continue until we're all blind.
I truly believe that if women ruled the world, barely any of the hatred and injustice would possibly occur in this world. Now, I'm no feminist. I'm no elitist. I'm no idealist. But as I watch this movie, as I watch children killed, families slaughtered, people’s belongings and food taken, and women raped, I can't think of much else.
Women wouldn't do unnecessary things to people who are just trying to survive. It's not in us. Although we might defend ourselves, do the most we can to survive, we wouldn't do more than that just to view and experience the unhappiness of others.
Now of course this is my own opinion, and am not specifically targeting any certain person in order to offend. So please, no one, take offence.
"Every piece of this is man's bullshit. They call this war, 'A Cloud Over The Land', but they make the weather, and then they stand in the rain and say, S***! It's Raining!'"
I find myself shed a tear everytime I watch this scene....

Gene Kelly

As I researched background stories about this fantastic movie, I came across several accounts on the personality of Gene Kelly. Apparently he was a complete perfectionist who put pressure on all of his fellow actors, making them practice over and over again until he was satisfied with it.
Gene Kelly said himself [on his working experience with Debbie Reynolds while filming Singin' in the Rain], "I wasn't nice to Debbie. It's a wonder she still speaks to me."
However, I find many comments on how this must've made this movie such a fantastic film. He must've forced the whole crew into perfection.
I'd have to disagree. For whose to say it wasn't the sheer talent of the other actors themselves that made it such a memorable and impressive performance. Extra stress and tension from an acting collegue might've only just made it an uncomfortable working environment and contributed to lessening the performance level of each individual involved.

Saw 3

I would have to say that Saw is the only one at fault, as to explain why Amanda became homocidal and was no longer able to uphold Saw's own values.
For her to save her own life she had to take anothers. With such lessons, the transition of having the moral ability to kill someone is shorter. She loses her sense of the value of others lives, and although she comprehends Saw's overall lesson, she felt that no one is worthy.
However Saw's lessons on other test subjects involved not necessarily murder, but self-inflicting pain. The man who had to cut himself through wire to escape, the man who had to walk on glass to find the combination, the man who had to cut out his own eye to release himself.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm no homocidal maniac, but in comparison between cutting my own eye out and cutting a key out of anothers stomach, the inherent personal pain is far different.

Berlin, Germany 1883; d. Boston, Massachusetts 1969)

Walter Gropius was born in Berlin in 1883. The son of an architect, he studied at the Technical Universities in Munich and Berlin. He joined the office of Peter Behrens in 1910 and three years later established a practice with Adolph Meyer. For his early commissions he borrowed from the Industrial Classicism introduced by Behrens.

After serving in the war, Gropius became involved with several groups of radical artists that sprang up in Berlin in the winter of 1918. In March 1919 he was elected chairman of the Working Council for Art and a month later was appointed Director of the Bauhaus.

As war became eminent, Gropius left the Bauhaus and resumed private practice in Berlin. Eventually, he was forced to leave Germany for the United States, where he became a professor at Harvard University. From 1938 to 1941, he worked on a series of houses with Marcel Breuer and in 1945 he founded "The Architect's Collaborative", a design team that embodied his belief in the value of teamwork.

Gropius created innovative designs that borrowed materials and methods of construction from modern technology. This advocacy of industrialized building carried with it a belief in team work and an acceptance of standardization and prefabrication. Using technology as a basis, he transformed building into a science of precise mathematical calculations.

An important theorist and teacher, Gropius introduced a screen wall system that utilized a structural steel frame to support the floors and which allowed the external glass walls to continue without interruption.

Gropius died in Boston, Massachusetts in 1969.

References
Dennis Sharp.
Megan Fox Crowned Sexiest Woman In The World

source: news.yahoo.com

LOS ANGELES (Reuters Life!) - Actress Megan Fox was named the world's sexiest woman on Wednesday by an annual online poll, while the world's most Googled woman, Britney Spears, barely scraped in at No. 100 after a shocker of a year.

Fox, 21, who starred in last year's hit movie "Transformers," grabbed the title from actress Jessica Alba, 26, topping online men's magazine FHM Online's (www.FHMonline.com) reader poll of the 100 Sexiest Women in the World for 2008.

Alba dropped to No. 3, coming behind American actress and former model Jessica Biel but ahead of Canadian actress Elisha Cuthbert who was ranked fourth after appearing in horror movie "Captivity" last year. U.S actress and singer Scarlett Johansson, 23, rounded out the top five.

"Megan Fox is the deserving winner of this year's FHM title. She's young, she's hot, she's a rising star and her sex appeal has definitely transformed this year's list. She's got a great future ahead of her," said FHM Online U.S. Editor JR Futrell.

Fox debuted on the list at No. 68 in 2006 and was ranked No. 65 last year. But playing the lead female role in "Transformers," a blockbuster $700 million hit at worldwide box offices, markedly raised her profile.

Also in the top 10 were Emmanuelle Chriqui, Hilary Duff, Tricia Helfer, Blake Lively and Kate Beckinsale.

Newcomers to the list included Victoria Beckham, aka Posh Spice from British pop band the Spice Girls, who moved to Los Angeles with her husband, English soccer player David Beckham, last year. She made her debut at No. 99.

Spears, 26, whose career has been buried under an avalanche of personal and mental health problems, managed to make the list at No. 100, a steep decline from 2004 when she was voted the world's sexiest woman.

FHM's 100 Sexiest Women in the World poll is now in its 14th year with nearly 9 million votes cast this year by FHM readers worldwide to choose the sexiest women in film, television, music, sports, and fashion.

This year's list also included reality TV stars to reflect the genre's increasing popularity with three girls from the "The Hills" making the list, including Heidi Montag at No. 44 and Audrina Patridge at No. 80 and Lauren Conrad at No. 95.

From "Dancing with the Stars," actress Shannon Elizabeth returned to the list at No. 46 after being absent last year. She was joined by Cheryl Burke at No. 40 and Karina Smirnoff at No. 78, who made their debuts.

"It's no surprise to us that so many reality stars made this year's list," said Futrell. 'The Hills' is one of the most popular shows on MTV, and 'Dancing with the Stars' is the No. 2 reality show in America after 'American Idol.' We expect even more to be added next year."

More celebrities news here: http://www.dreamteammoney.com/index.php?showforum=519

Cotton Ball Tree, Earth Day Crafts

Cotton Ball Tree
Source: crafts.kaboose.com/cotton-ball-tree.html
By: Amanda Formaro

Celebrate nature this Earth Day with this easy-to-make tree. A fun way to recycle what would otherwise be garbage.

Take some time to visit our other fun Earth Day crafts, recipes and fun printables.
What you'll need:

* Plastic water bottle
* 1 sheet brown felt
* 1 green skinny chenille stem
* 3 small foam flower stickers
* 2 small blue pom poms
* Scrap of goldenrod-colored felt
* ˝ bag of cotton balls
* Green dust-free powdered tempera paint
* Gallon size zipper plastic bag
* 1 sheet of green construction paper
* Stapler
* Scissors
* Pebbles, coins, sand, or something else to weigh down bottle
* Sandwich size zipper plastic bag
* White craft glue
* Hot glue gun (optional)

How to make it:

1. Cut the top off of the plastic water bottle. Recycle the top or save it for another project.
2. Wrap the plastic bottle in brown felt. Glue the felt to the bottle and tuck excess inside the top of the bottle. Leave bottom of bottle open as it will stand better that way.
3. Fill zipper sandwich bag halfway with something heavy that you don’t need, such as pebbles, sand, or pennies. Close zipper and place inside water bottle.
4. Roll up construction paper into a cone shape and staple to hold together. Fold down the larger open end to create a solid top, staple to keep closed. (See photo for example.)
5. Place skinny end of cone into water bottle opening and glue in place.
6. Place a small amount of green powder paint into the gallon zipper bag, about 1 tablespoon.
7. Add cotton balls to the zipper bag and close. Shake until the cotton balls are covered with the green powder paint.
8. Glue green cotton balls to the construction paper form until completely covered.
9. Stick the foam flowers stickers to the “trunk” of the tree and cut pieces of green chenille for the stems and leaves. Glue chenille pieces in place.
10. Cut small squares from the goldenrod felt. Parents, using a hot glue gun, place a dot of glue in the center of the square and gently hold halfway closed to create the beak (until glue dries). Glue beaks to blue pom poms.
11. Glue the pom poms to the cotton balls to make it look like baby birds looking for food.

Tips:

* You may want to shake some excess green powder from the tree by gently tapping over a garbage can.
* Use any tubular item for the trunk that you have lying around. Something like potato chip canister works too!
* The flowers and pom poms are smaller embellishments and steps that can be eliminated in the interest of time or if children are smaller.
