Why a Home-Based Business?

The S&P 500 has declined 38% in the previous 12 months producing mass layoffs and causing six million new people to be added to the unemployment rolls in the United States. Highly educated people desperate to bring some money into the family coffers are filling even minimum wage jobs. The current economy has produced thousands of individuals realizing the need to create their own income opportunity. But with so many home-based business opportunities, how can you tell if an opportunity is a good one?

What is a Good Opportunity?

New home-based business opportunities are becoming available each month. Unfortunately, these companies are going out of business at an alarming rate. The reason why most of these companies fail boils down to two reasons, undercapitalization and mismanagement. Even though home-based businesses do not require expensive franchising fees, to be successful, you will still need to invest your valuable time and emotional and physical energy. Many people work very hard to create a sales organization that can produce a part-time or full-time income, only to have it yanked out from underneath them when the company goes out of business.

What Metrics Should I Use?

Stock market analysts use sophisticated metrics to make educated projections about which stocks will yield the desired returns on investment. Anyone considering a home-based business should also carefully evaluate the business before investing his or her valuable resources. They should carefully research several factors listed below that I call the four Ps; People, Product, Profit and Process. Do quantifiable research and don’t believe everything you hear, especially from a salesperson.

Who Are the People?

The people managing the business are the most important consideration. Find out who the top executives are and do a thorough background check on each one, especially the founder. The Internet is a good source of information, although be careful to confirm that the source is unbiased, authentic and respected. There are only two attributes that are important to evaluate – Are they trustworthy? Are they competent? Trustworthiness is absolutely mandatory. Nothing else matters if the management cannot be trusted in their business and personal relationships. If they are trustworthy, confirm that they have sufficient experience and a successful track record for the responsibility they have in the company. Many good honest people have failed because they don’t know how to do their job. Most inexperienced managers also don’t know what they don’t know.

What is the Product?

After confirming that the people are trustworthy and competent the next question is about the product. Most importantly, does the product have real retailable value? Does the product stand on its own outside of any income opportunity? Would consumers purchase the product without expecting any financial kickback? Is the company justifying the price with earnings from recruiting others who then need to repeat the process? Is the product in high broad demand and is it consumed regularly? A highly specialized product may limit your potential market of customers and recruits. If the product is a durable good sold once then your income will be based on new sales every month, which will be more volatile that a consistent revenue stream from the same customers consuming the product every month. Also be aware of commodity products that don’t have sufficient margins for significant earnings. Companies with these products typically pay most their commissions on subscription-based tools, like websites, rather than the actual product (e.g. phone service, energy, travel, shopping clubs).

How Do I Make a Profit?

One of the first financial questions in any business is how quickly do I break-even? In a home-based business that means how quickly will I recover my initial investment? How quickly will I earn enough to pay for my product consumption? And how quickly will I earn enough to pay for my monthly business expenses? The Direct Selling Association (DSA) reports that 90% of all people who get involved in a home-based business do so to earn an extra $500 a month. How easily can you get to $500 per month? How many people do you need on your sales team to earn $500 monthly? Some plans purport high payout percentages, but have hidden breakage that never gets paid out. Is the compensation plan easy to understand? Can you easily explain it to others? Can you easily calculate your earnings manually? Some plans are designed to only reward the big dogs at the top. The good plans recognize that the stability of a company is based on the number of $500 checks it writes. In the long run this stability provides the dream income for the top earners.

Is There a Simple Duplicatable Process?

According to Entrepreneur Magazine, 80% of independent businesses fail in five years; conversely, franchised businesses with a proven system have a success rate of 91% for the same time period. Does the company provide a proven system to build and retain a successful sales force? Many companies provide recruiting tools like lead generation pages and contact managers. The real question is not only how quickly you can recruit others, but also how well you keep them and help them become successful. The most successful companies also provide support and self-help systems, complete training and certification systems, and leadership and mentoring systems.

I know you cant get much of a return if your not willing to put in something.
In saying this my missus is not one who trusts internet programs and is loath to allow money to be put into programs. Im starting from the ground up here and just thought id show how im starting and to get some feedback if possible.

1st step - I joined a few PTC sites and got a few dollars in the bank.
2nd step - I used the few dollars i got to join a matrix program.
3rd step - Joined a couple of surfing sites to promote my link.
4th step - I havent got anything next. Is there something i should do or i have i gone all the wrong way about starting out to make money.

P.S.

What you need to do also is focus on what you want. You need to use your body and focus mentally on what you want at the same time. You can’t just do one. Your thoughts and physiology need to be aligned. Make sure you focus on what you want not on what you think you can have.

Positioning yourself to win is vitally important. If you want to make more money you must be prepared to receive it. By getting in the proper state first will help you achieve success effortlessly. Because discipline will begin to just flow.

Some things that should flash the "WARNING SIGN" when you look at these sites :

1. "PROOF PICTURES" of expensive cars, mansions, stacks of money, etc etc.

2. "TESTIMONIALS" pictures of people and an article saying how happy they are and how the system works well.

3. The guarantee that you can make thousands and thousands of dollars within a day (THAT IS SCREAMING "GET RICH SCHEME!!")

Those are the 3 main things that should let you know your being scammed. Now don't get me wrong your going to eventually have to come out of pocket to sustain your business, but don't go dishing out money to sites that claim to make you rich with their secret technique that they use to make money. One thing to remember they are making money off newbies who are desperate for money.

But one thing Im learning as I slowly make my way into the internet marketing world is that it takes time to get to the top and it all depends on how much effort YOU put in. I'd like to say, that you will get better at it with practice, but that's not the case!

All I can say is to research the topic and learn from the pro's and your sales copy will increase
your sales.

1. " The Hook'' ... Make the headline stand out, grab the reader by the bootstraps. Be outrageous,
use numbers, percentages, exclamation points. Opportunity seekers love NUMBERS!
The first couple of lines of text, have to hook the reader, compelling them to read on.

2. " Enter the Reader's Mind" .... You have to spark the reader's curiosity, stimulate their mind.
Give them a more intelligent thought then they had 5 minutes ago. It is here that you start
appealing to their " What's in it for me" mentality. Your text should show them the benefits they
will derive if they put your system to work for them.

3. " Validation".... In this area of your sales copy, you have to find ways to validate your
reader's feelings, by justifying his decisions to look for this opportunity and agreeing with his
rational.

4. " Empathy"... This is where the" I know how you feel" comes in. Empathize with your reader, and
tell him that you have been in his shoes. They will show you more trust if you show them some
vulnerability and weakness.

5. " The Close"... Tell them how different their life will be when buy your product. Show them what
it will be like on the other side. Show some confidence, and build in urgency. Buy this product now,
because their is limited space. Throw a bonus at them, if they buy today only!

6. " The Old Fashion Risk Reversal"... Throw every guarantee, money-back proposal ,free trial offer
you can at them!

I have tried article writing, don't want to do it

I have done GPT, don't like it.

I have tried selling online, not good at it.

I have lost over $200 in just the last month, signing up for programs through safelists and traffic exchanges that promised the world and delivered NOTHING!

One of those programs was PBX. I was so certain that I would make money, so I spent $104.90 signing up, and never made a dime. Another program I was hopeful about only last week is PLB, but now it's looking like another dud.

What I want more than anything is for you experts to direct me to a matrix, downline club, or something along those lines that will let me make a LOT of money in only a few weeks or months. I know, they ALL sound great, but which one really works?? I can't afford to lose any more money, I am getting dangerously close to broke but addicted to following this pipe dream of easy wealth

I used to own a small website that was affiliated with google and various companies via trade doubler, i made around £150 in around a year but that was mostly due to relatives/friends clicking through the links on the site etc. I was not getting any unique clickthroughs

That site has since come and gone mainly because Google removed my adsence account due to 'invalid clicks' so therfore im looking for new ways to make money online. My target is very low (around $5-$15 a day would be great) but im really unsure where to start? Iv looked in to PTC but that really doenst seem to pay alot unless your signed upto many and do this on a regular basis, HYIP scares me and although im familier with affliate programs i struggle to see the big picture with SEO and updating content via web sites.

Do you guys have any advice and/or success stories you would like to share with me? I have a stable job but would primarially like to earn some extra $$$ to help with the bills.

I've notice through out the forums, that members post returns of a couple of dollars to $0.10 profit return. Is this some sort of code? Or is it that they actually made $0.10 off their payouts? Heck, the dang fees involve in deposits and payouts are already taking a big portion.

I know these advertisers say you can invest with a min of $10 in with higher max deposit avail. Is this a trend to just in $10 or so in each program that the members want to test or try out? I haven't really seen anyone say "payout + $1,000"...it's always, a dollar plus change or change it self.

I go through an entire program topic and see the members repeatedly say " they got paid, thanks, for $0.34 or so."
